Voting Id (Credencial Civica)

.

Just like with the Cedula de Identidad (ID) or the Driver's license (Libreta de Conducir) , the Credencial Civica (Voting ID) is a document exclusively issued within the territory and the Corte Electoral (Electoral Court) is the Agency responsible of issuing it.

Currently a new system is being put into place, with which the voting ID is being issued in a different format from the previous one; therefore, it is recommended when traveling to Uruguay to renew such document, and if it were the case, to request to be returned to the active registry of voters. The current legislation establishes that those citizen who have not voted in the last three consecutive elections are withdrawn from the active registry.

For those citizens interested in knowing more, it is recommended to visit the website of the Electoral Court: www.corteelectoral.gub.uy
