Proof of Life

The current legislation allows those Uruguayan citizens living overseas to receive their pensions, as long as they are able to provide documentation that they are alive (proof of life).

Such proof is being provided by the Consulate General, which sends the information destined to update the list of people in the jurisdiction who receive their pensions.

To be part of such list, the interested persons will have to register in the Consulate General, and must present the Form which can be downloaded below, together with the Cedula de Identidad (ID) and the Pension Number.

Should certain obstacles might arise and the person might not be able to go the Consulate General, it is suggested to contact the Consulate General by phone to be informed of other options.

Given that each Pension Fund has different requirements in terms of the length of validity of the Proof of Life, it is suggested to pay attention to such requirements, so everyone can be aware of the frequency with which they will have to send to the Consulate the proof of life. As an example, it is mentioned that the Banco de Prevision Social -BPS- requires a certification every six months, whereas the Military Fund requires such certification every three months, etc.

This certification is free.
